S.U.M.O (Shut Up, Move On) by Paul McGee

I found this book from the internet when I wanted to search for the books for my Marketing subjects on December last year. At first I just wanted to search for the marketing books because my subject is Marketing Management but after I read a brief about this book, I feel motivated and had a feeling to read more and I was thinking it might help not only me but also my classmate.
So, I bought this book from MPH bookstore and I am glad for choosing this book and the topic of my presentation. My lecturer Assoc.Professor Dr.Rosidah showed an interest when listening to my presentation and in fact she gave me a credit for sharing a motivation topics with the class.
Yes, this book had also given me a motivation in my current life and it helps me a lot to become a positive person especially in my business.
Here are amongs the slides that I presented in my class.

Internet conncected me to the whole world

When I started my business in retailing industry which I am focuing on Muslimah's fashion, I am totally like a new born baby in this world. In my family history no one have a business background, not even my late father, my mother or my siblings. I just want to do business because I feel tired of working for people, with my fixed salary per month, I have to face thousand and one kind of people's behavior not to mention about office politics which I hated so much. End of the day I felt no matter how excellent am I in my job if I am not excellent in office politics I will finished. Even though I tired with all that but I am still continue working until 15 years because I have family to take care of. But I started realized that I have to do something for myself and my family when my boss been transfered back to UK for good and the company freezed my position as Personal Assistant. Although the company can offer me other position instead of terminate me but they choosed to terminate due to what I can say here is 'Politics'. I am not figure point to anybody but God knows what is going on. To cut short the story I started my business in November 2010. I started with selling "Tudung Ekspres" and shawls. My business location is just at Governement offices corridor. Everyday I will shifted at different locations according to the respective offices approval. At the beginning it's really though for me because I never been in that situation ever since. My staff is my lovely kids. They had supported me and business from day one until now.

Now, with my savings from business I can join with the higher event business such as 'Jom Heboh' organized by TV3, Carnival Nilai, Carnival Upin & Ipin, Selangor Bumper 2011 Carnival, Carnival for 'Belia' under Kementerian Belia dan Sukan, Karnival Perhimpunan Sejuta Belia 2011 at Putrrajaya and many more.
Now, my next move and I can said as my dream to become a wholeseller. I will not let myself at this stage as a retailer until the end.

So, talking about internet, yes it has connected me to the whole world. Now with the internet I gain a network with suppliers in other countries such as China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. Previously my supplier was an importers located in Malaysia. They are the one who had inspired me to become one of them soon. So, I went in to the internet to search where I can get the suppliers or manufacturers so that I can get a better price to be a suppliers for retailers in Malaysia.
Now, I have started supplying to my customers that is retailers in Sarawak, Terengganu and Selangor. I am planning to go to Vietnam very soon as I already found suppliers from there. This was help from the internet. Thank you very much.

Autobigraphical Essay

I would like to share my autobiographical essay which I did during my application for MBA at UiTM. At first when I read the application guidelines, one of it I need to write an autobiographical essay about myself. In fact I am not that good in writing an essay but I still tried becuase it is compulsory to do it.
Now, after I read it again, I am very proud of myself because when I wrote this essay, I really did it from my heart. Frankly, I did not read again this essay after I submitted my application. But I would like to thank Dr.Norzaidi because he had inspired me to master in my own capability and after I read again this essay, now I noticed, writing about myself and sharing with others will not only make us motivated but it might also can motivates others.

Here is my writing dated 10th January 2010.......
My Name is Khalijah Binti Bakar. I am 36 years old and married with four kids. Currently I am working as a Personal Assistant to the Group CEO of Qualitas Medical Group Sdn Bhd. Besides, I also pursuing my study in Bachelor Business Admin (Major) Human Resource Management and now I am at my final semester which going to be complete by end of October 2010.

My career background, I have an experienced working in admin and secretarial area for 14 years. My last 5 years job I am holding a senior executive level which I worked for the highest management such as Vice President of the company as well as the Group CEO. From there, I got the opportunity to gain knowledge in business operations as a whole. I always involved in the management activities especially Board Directors meeting and the Management meeting. Therefore, I always had a chance to meet with the highest people in the company.
I am glad even though I am still study as an out-campus student for my Bachelor Business Admin (major) Human Resource Management, at the same time I also building up my working experienced. I would say my career and education was building up at the same time. I am lucky and very proud of myself for having a chance in both areas whereby at the same time I am also carry my responsibility as a wife and mother to my four lovely kids. I always remind myself to keep trying until succeed. That is why, I am not stop my study just at BBA level but wanted to pursue in MBA level straight away.

As a personality, I am a very good team player. I am very interested in organizing and leading a team in any project basis. In other words I am a dateline person. In addition, I used to be called as an efficient person by either my colleagues, group members as well as my superior. I am very energetic and focus with whatever task that I responsible to it.
For example, in most of the assignments or projects that been assigned to me and my team members by my lecturer, I will definitely make sure that we can deliver or achieve the results efficiently. One of the project that I handled before was a charity works that my class need to organize. So, we organized to do a charity works at an Orphanage House that is “Rumah Amal Limpahan Kasih” (RALK) which located at Puchong, Selangor. I hold a position as a Project Manager with 40 team members. We managed to collect more than Ringgit Malaysia six thousand (RM6,000) in cash plus contribution in goods such as rice, books, curtain, study table, clothes, toiletries goods, etc which total amount was Ringgit Malaysia ten thousand (RM10000) altogether. We arranged to spent one whole day at RALK to do all the cleaning works, reorganized the kids room, cooked for them, games activities with them and many more activities that we would be able to do. We all very satisfied with this project and I would say we achieved our result satisfactorily.
I have a planning to own a business that is a family business. I don’t think with my current work I can guarantee my kids’ future will be stable. Therefore, I planned to have a business such as to operate a food business, supermarket, to supply health and beauty products, etc. To me as long as I have the momentum to keep trying, I am sure I can be success like other entrepreneurs in Malaysia regardless of the size of the business.
Wherever got way, there is an opportunity for us to move ahead. I always motivate myself to be a hard working person. Always have a focus to keep moving ahead. Although on the way I will find a failure and frustration situation, I will try in every effort to keep on going ahead so that I will not stop or give up to meet many other opportunities in front. Always shows my interest in all the opportunities plus take all challenges as an opportunity for me to success.
Sometime people may look at challenges as problems and keep giving thousand and one reasons or excuse for not performing or fail to success but for me their challenges which a problem to them is an opportunity for me to perform towards the success.
I will never put a full stop in every challenges whichever cross my way. In fact I make them as my interest. In fact, by having this principal in me, I never feel a burden or face difficulties in many situations. I can overcome each and every hassle efficiently. I believe this needs a high motivator factor in our own self. We cannot just wait and see the opportunity to come across our way every time but in fact we need to find them in all areas in this world. There is no dead road for people that have high self-motivator. Furthermore, we could even create a new cross road for us to success.

Last but least, my vision as a personal as well as for my family, I wanted to be a successful entrepreneur one day. Therefore, to hold a Master in Business Administration (MBA) is one of my ambition that could become one of the factor that could boost my motivation to keep going on achieving my goals.

My Kids and their internet world

The Internet can be a wonderful resource for kids. They can use it to research school reports, communicate with teachers and other kids, and play interactive games but I have four different stories about my kids. I have four kids, Fathehah, Fathullah, Fathirah and Faqhihah. They have their own point of view about internet. My eldest daughter usually used the internet to get information about her school work especially when she needs to do a folio. My son usually used the internet for games same goes to my youngest one, but they played a different kind of games between two of them. My third daughter used the internet very seldom. I guess she always get a least chance amongst the other three. But one thing that I can very sure all of them definitely have their own facebook account. Whatever it is, I am glad because my kids are also an IT savvy. Actually I am impressed with their creativity. Fathehah was very creative in doing her folio for her school. She can even teach to the other three when they also need to do the same thing. On the other hand my son was very creative in combining pictures and building up his own profile through his facebook. I can’t even think that he was that creative until I cannot recognize his work. Fathirah was also creative on her own way but she seldom show it to us but through her facebook I can tell she is also have her own creativity but as I mentioned earlier due to her limitation to get into the internet due to the busy traffic by the other three in the house, she always step back. Faqhihah would have a great story about the internet. She really likes internet games especially ‘cooking games for girls’. I have seen her many times with her cooking games. I am sure she had fun with a colorful background on the games. She also used goggles search especially when she wants to know something from her school books that she do not understand. I always seen Fathirah and Faqhihah used the goggles search to search photo such as about different types of house in Malaysia, they search about bird’s name, etc. They also can check their exam results through the website: http://saps.moe.gov.my/ibubapa2/index.php.
Internet was really helps them in their school work. Internet I would say was their encyclopedia.
Whatever it is, I will make sure that all of them will not go in to the wrong website. I always control their usage of the computer. The computer had been set with a password to on it on. My kids do not have an idea what is the password. The reason why I did that because I want them only can use the computer during my present in the house so that I can monitor them.
No matter how good or creative they are in using the internet, I belief their behavior in their internet world still need to be monitor and parenting control are very important.

PETALING JAYA: Parents and teachers have been left in a quandary as the onslaught of Internet games and social networking sites are bringing out a rebellious streak in many children.
“Why are you controlling my life?” – is the question often thrown back by children to their parents or teachers when they are confronted with their obsession with the Internet.

Norton, an Internet security company, produced a family report in 2010 which stated that Malaysian children spent an average of 64 hours online every month.
National Union of the Teaching Profession secretary general Lok Yim Pheng described the students’ obsession with the Internet as a silent killer which was “killing off” the interest of students in class.
There had been reported cases of students falling asleep in class after a whole night of playing Internet games and on-line chatting.
Lok had been ringing the alarm bells over this issue for the last five years.
She said there were also students who starved themselves during recess time because they wanted to save up for trips to cyber cafes.
“There have also been cases where stealing is involved,” she said.
Public complaints go-to man, Datuk Michael Chong said many parents had come crying to him saying they were at a loss over what to do.
“Their children spend countless hours on the Internet – with some cases involving primary school students surfing pornographic sites,” said the head of the MCA Public Service and Complaints Department.
Psychologist Dr Goh Chee Leong said the Internet was enticing because it was “very engaging and stimulating.”
“This problem is more prevalent in the middle and higher class families because they can afford to buy computers,” said the vice-president of HELP University College.
Mary (not her real name), an ex-addict, said that at the height of her obsession with online games, she only slept once every two days.
“I was 16 then. I was having teenage angst and like my peers, I needed a world where I could be in control and I could win,” said the undergraduate.
Luckily, she grew out from the phase when she was 19. Her bad grades were a nasty wake-up call, said the 21-year-old.
Father of three and marketing manager Simon Lee worries that his children will neglect their studies if they spend too much time on the computer.
But he could soon have a solution.
Software engineer Wayne Koong has invented a programme which slows down Internet programmes tremendously, to make the viewers get impatient and lose interest.
